We are a group of New York City parents and educators advocating for strong public schools. Strong public schools need the freedom to tailor educational opportunities to fulfill the unique needs of each student, treat educators as professionals, and reflect the communities they serve.

We believe:

• All children have the right to learn how to read, make meaning of, and be active citizens of the world.

• Public schools deserve strong, highly skilled teachers who have the freedom to critically evaluate curricula and modify and construct them to meet the needs of the individual students they serve. 

• A strong public education fosters and respects democratic values and requires citizens to contribute to the learning process, something that scripted, corporate curricula do not allow.
